Free Indie Film Festival Comes to Clatskanie
The Clatskanie Cultural Center
will host an indie film festival on Sat-
urday, August 17, organized by film-
makers Ray and Migdalia Etheridge.
Doors open at 12:45 pm for the 1:00
pm show, and the second program is
at 3:00 pm. Films are different in each
program, and both shows are free to at-
tend. The Clatskanie Cultural Center is
located at 75 S. Nehalem.
The event will showcase 26 short
films, produced by indie filmmakers
from across the U.S., including several
from Oregon. Genres include comedy,
horror, drama, documentaries, and ani-
mation.

Festival on August 17. Photo courtesy of filmmaker John Harrington.
The films for the program were
selected by a panel of five judges who
graded each film on its technical quality,
acting, script development, and entertain-
ment value. The festival received nearly
100 entries, and films with the highest
judged scores are being shown.
Awards in various categories will
be presented after each block of films.
The Etheridges warn that many of the
films contain “adult” language or subject
matter, and therefore are not recommend-
ed for children.
