Nancy Jean Schenk Nancy Jean Schenk, age 71, passed away on April 9, 2019 after a long battle with Multiple System Atrophy/Pri- mary Aphasia. Nancy was the daughter of Henry Smith and Doris Hal- verson. She leaves behind her loving husband Henk Schenk; daughter Jenny Santoro; broth- er Fred Skidmore; three grand- children, Wyatt, Layla, and Mi- chael; and many other friends and family. Nancy grew up in Til- lamook. She worked as a bank manager in Alaska and was later a successful realtor. She resided in Hawaii, Alaska, and Oregon with her former hus- band and moved back to Verno- nia in 1993. Nancy was the life of the party, full of energy and laughter. She was loved and will be greatly missed. The family will hold a private memorial and asks that any donations be made to the National Aphasia Association. FOR TOWING EMERGENCIES IN AND AROUND THE VERNONIA AREA Reverend Richard K. “Dick” Colsen Reverend Richard K. “Dick” Colsen, 91, a longtime resident of the Hillsboro com- munity, died Saturday morning, April 27, 2019 at his home. Graveside Services with Full Military Honors were held on Tuesday, May 7, 2019 at 2:00 pm at the Willamette National Cemetery, 11800 SE Mt. Scott Blvd. in Portland, under the direction of the U.S. Navy and the Hillsboro Martin J. Ryan V.F.W. Post #2666. Reverend Richard K. “Dick” Colsen was born July 19, 1927 in Dove Creek, Colo- rado, the son of the late Albin Colsen and Jenny (Lord) Col- sen. As a young boy, he moved with his family to Oregon, set- tling in the Vernonia communi- ty, where he was raised and re- ceived his education, then later with his family moved to Hill- sboro where he graduated from Hillsboro High School Class of 1945. He was a Veteran of World War II, having served one enlistment in the United States Navy, until he received his honorable discharge. Dick was united in marriage to Florence Mae Col- sen on October 5, 1952 in Love- land, Colorado. Shortly after they began their traveling evan- gelistic work. They later lived in the Cornelius community, until 1980 when they moved to their home in the Hillsboro community, where he had resided since. He was preceded in death by his wife, Florence, on March 27, 2011, after celebrat- ing over 59 years of marriage together. Dick and his wife Florence were instrumental in starting the Valley Full Gos- pel Church in Hillsboro, where they served for over 45 years, until they retired. Among his special in- terests, he enjoyed fishing with his son, David, especially trout, steelhead, and salmon. He was also preceded in death by his parents, Albin and Jenny Colsen; his brother Harry, and his two sisters, Lu- cille and Rene. Survivors include his son and daughter-in-law, David and Laura Colsen of Hillsboro, Oregon, and his daughter Cindy Colsen Losli of Hillsboro, Or- egon. Also surviving are his two grandchildren, Elias Losli and Tyler Colsen; and several nieces and nephews.
