This change also ap- plies in the small area of the Clackamas River from its confluence with the Wil- lamette upstream to the Hwy 99E bridge. • Youth anglers under 12 may use two rods in this area without purchasing the validation. • Anglers remain restricted to one rod at all times when fishing for sturgeon. • A decision on whether to allow two rods upstream of Willamette Falls will be made at a later date. As a reminder, anglers remain limited to one rod at all times when fish- ing in the Columbia River. Two-rod validations have been available to Oregon anglers for several years. For $24.50, licensed anglers can purchase a validation that allows them to use a second rod in certain locations of the state, primarily ponds and lakes. If you have already purchased a two- rod validation in 2019, it is valid for any waters open to the use of two rods. Kids under the age of 12 do not need a valida- tion to use a second rod in any locations open to two rods. Razor Clamming Opens on Clatsop Beach Razor clamming reopened on Clatsop Beach (from Tillamook Head in Seaside to the mouth of the Columbia River) on March 1. This area had been closed to protect under- size clams and give them a chance to grow, after 2018 fall surveys found most- ly small clams with shell lengths between 2-3 inches. “The small razor clams on Clatsop Beach we observed this fall have grown at a rate we anticipated,” said ODFW Shellfish Biologist Matt Hunter. “Currently, the dominant size of clams is between 3.5 and 3.75 inches with few larger clams avail- able. As the spring progress- es and we get longer days, more food will be available and the clams will continue to grow.” Clatsop Beach is Or- egon’s most popular area for razor clamming and can be open October 1-July 14 each year, provided ODA test- ing finds clams are safe to eat. Recent tests show razor clams from Clatsop Beach are safe to consume. Call ODA’s Shellfish safety information hotline at (800) 448-2474 or vis- it ODA’s Recreational Shell- fish Safety Page or ODFW’s Recreation Report to check for any closures before clam- ming or crabbing. She recently had a litter of kittens. They are older now and she is ready to start her life as a lady of leisure in her new home. Cindy is very friendly and very loving. She does not seem to mind the cats that are her neighbors and is welcome to being petted at every chance she gets. We are not sure about her history with either dogs or kids. As we watch her interactions in the cattery we will be able to learn more about her. Cindy's adoption fee is $125. She will be spayed, current on vaccines, microchipped, treated for fleas and worms. She will also come with 30 days pet insurance and a free 14 day vet visit with any of our local vets. 2084 Oregon Street, St. Helens, OR 97051 Phone: 503-397-4353 Jack is right around 2 years old and weighs about 25 lbs. This guy is very sweet, however he is a little nervous when he is meeting new people. He was in a home previously with other dogs and cats and apparently did well with both. He is not recommended for a home with kids under the age of 12. If you are interested in meeting Jack we ask that you either call or email. Please do not just show up at the shelter as all our dog meet-and-greets are done by appointment after we have an approved application on file. We like to make sure that both our adopters and our dogs are a match. We will be very upfront and honest if we feel that we don't have a match for you and/or we may suggest another dog.
