On the Shelves
By Shannon Romtvedt
Upcoming Events
This month the Library featured a
display called “We Love Our Library.”
Patrons were encouraged to write
what they love about the Vernonia
Library on a heart and attach the
note to the display. This activity was
particularly popular with children
and families. Thank you for all of
your heartwarming words. We are
happy to see you at the Library and
we will keep doing and making
available the things you love!
What do Vernonia Library
patrons love? Playing with blocks
and making crafts, books, movies,
Library festivities, staff, friendly
smiles, Dr. Seuss’s Birthday Party,
playing with friends, kids area, art
and craft table, having a place to
come hangout and have fun, quiet
and cozy, dinosaur books, reading
with mama, and more.
If it’s been a while or
you’ve never been to the Library in
Vernonia, here are a few reasons to
come: We have a craft table with a
rotating craft always available for
something fun. A kid’s area filled
with books, toys, building blocks,
puzzles, Legos, magnets, and a giant
bear. We have public computers, a
printer, service for faxing, copying,
laminating, and scanning. We have
books for all ages, audiobooks, dvds,
blu-rays, board games for check-out,
and graphic novels for kids. Call the
Library and you can reserve a pass
to visit OMSI, Shute Park Aquatic
Center, Rice Rock Museum, or the
Oregon Historical Society.
The Library is a great place
to connect to Wi-Fi, tutor, meet in a
small group, knit in a comfy corner,
or read to children, a place to meet
friends at a storytime or event. We
are coming up on a busy time of
year, so follow event listings in the
newspaper, website, or Facebook
page to see what’s coming up
for the community at the Library.
Thank you for the love, Vernonia!

Did You Know? Tax Forms
A reminder about the availability of
tax forms at the Library. While many
file for free online, the Library does
receive paper Federal Tax forms (no
State forms). The Library now has
paper 1040 form and instruction
booklets available. For tax year
2018, the tax format has changed.
There is no longer a 1040EZ, 1040A,
1040 to choose from, just a single
Form 1040 with schedules. If
looking for a place to file taxes
online and/or print forms, the
Library has five public computers,
printer ($.10 per page B&W), fax
($1.00 plus $.25 per page), and a
scanner.
