Vernonia Teenager Publishes Children’s Book
For her high school senior
project, Vernonia High School stu-
dent Kendra Stefan decided to write,
illustrate, and publish a children’s
book. Anyone who’s attempted a
project of this scope probably dis-
covered that it’s a great deal of work.
For that reason, it makes sense that
there aren’t many seventeen-year-old
published authors.
Kendra started her proj-
ect in 2017, and in mid-November
2018, Jackie Moves to Bunsvill went
live on Amazon. So, how did it feel
to hit the publish button? Accord-
ing to Kendra, “It was an adrenaline
rush.”
On Saturday, December 15
at 2:00 pm, the Vernonia Library
will be hosting a book-signing. Stop

donating a copy
to the library
and will have
copies for sale.
Look-
ing back, her
favorite part of
writing a chil-
dren’s book was
drawing the characters, coming up
with their personalities, and seeing
how all of those different personali-
ties would mesh together. What did
she like the least? Working with for-
matting programs and fixing gram-
matical errors. “Just because it was
so tedious and time-consuming.”
Now that her book is done,
Kendra has some great advice for

The proposal to list the coastal
DPS of Pacific marten was published in
the Federal Register on October 9, 2018.
Publication will open a 60-day public
comment period. The Service will con-
sider comments from all interested parties
received by December 10, 2018. Informa-
