To the Editor,
I am supporting Henry
Heimuller. Why Henry over the others?
Henry has experience and compassion
for others, something others lack. He
has a proven track record of success.
Henry was instrumental in securing
grants to build the new transit center
in Rainier. Henry was also responsible
for our newest County Park. He saved
Dibblee Point river access from DSL
closing it down.
As Chair of the Northwest
Area Commission on Transportation,
Henry worked diligently with the As-
sociation of Oregon Counties and the
legislature to get the HB2017 trans-
portation package passed. HB2017
provides a dedicated funding system
for our public transportation system as
well as a funding stream for our road
department.
Henry was one of the people
instrumental in restructuring and sav-
ing our County fair. He helped obtain
grant funds to build our new Emergen-
cy Operations Center.
He spent countless hours work-
ing to close out all projects relating to
the 2007 floods. He was one of many
that worked to save people’s homes
and businesses. During the emergency,
he was physically there when he was
needed.
Henry has been involved in
many other projects as well as being
active on a number of boards and com-
missions including chairing the Co-

This kid is full of life and personality. Tundra
does well with other dogs, loves to play, is pretty
easy going, and will let you know verbally if she
has a problem with a situation. She knows basic
commands and likes to learn new things. We
don't think she is going to do well with cats and
she probably should be around older kids, as
due to her size, she does not realize she is a
force. Tundra is about 5 years old and weighs
around 90 lbs.

but Henry’s real strength is his compas-
sion for others. Henry is a family man
who cares for others, who takes time to
listen to others and their views even if
these views are different than his own.
I would strongly urge you to
support him. Henry’s compassion and
his experience make him the obvious
choice.

ry Heimuller a man who has done so
much and is continuing to work hard
for the people of Columbia County.

A workshop on REAL PROPER-
TY PURCHASE and PROPERTY LINE
DISPUTES will be held on Wednesday,
May 9, 2018 from 6:00-8:00 pm in the
Columbia County Law Library, which
is located at 270 S. First St. in St. Hel-
ens. The workshop marks the 18th in the
monthly Lawyer in the Law Library se-
ries being hosted by the Law Library.
Columbia County attorneys
Mark Gordon and Mike Sheehan will
be the guest speakers. The workshop is
FREE and OPEN TO THE PUBLIC. No
registration is required. Your attendance
and questions will be welcome.

Camp 18 Loggers
Memorial Dedication, May 12
The Camp 18 Loggers Memo-
rial Dedication will be held on May 12,
starting at 10:00 am. Everyone is wel-
come. Please come and take the oppor-
tunity to see the new displays of logging
memorabilia, visit with friends, and en-
joy this annual event.
The Loggers Memorial Dedica-
tion honors men and women who have
had their plaques placed in the Loggers
Memorial during the past year.
An auction will be held follow-
ing the dedication with items including a
4x4 John Deere tractor, Ax Man throw-
ing ax, and a free drone flight to help
make a logging unit layout. Proceeds
from the auction will be placed in the
Camp 18 Logging Museum fund, home
of the Loggers Memorial. The black-
smith shop will be open all day, along
with other vendors. This year’s event
will include a luncheon in lieu of the
Logging Exhibition held in past years.
The Loggers Memorial is
quickly running out of room in the me-
morial building as news of this mission
is spreading. There are currently plans
to expand the memorial in order to con-
tinue honoring the logging industry
in this region for many years to come.
There will be a booth with photos of the
proposed expansion. Donation can be
made to help with the expansion project.

ODFW Family Fishing
Event May 5 at Vernonia Lake
The Oregon Department of Fish
and Wildlife (ODFW) invites new anglers
to take part in its family fishing event Sat-
urday, May 5 at Vernonia Lake from 9:00
am to 2:00 pm. The event is free to the
public and open to all. ODFW staff and
volunteers will be on hand to assist those
who want to learn how to fish.
ODFW will provide equipment for
the event including rods, reels, and bait
for those who need it. Angling education
instructors and volunteers will be present
to answer questions and offer assistance to
less experienced anglers. Approximately
6,000 trout will be stocked just prior to the
event to help make it a successful experi-
ence.
Under Oregon Sport Fishing Regu-
lations, anglers ages 11 and under can fish
for free while those 12-17 will need to have
a juvenile angling license. All fishing regu-
lations continue to apply during this event.
