Columbia Pacific CCO to Host Opioid and Substance Use Summit
Columbia Pacific Coordinated
Care Organization (CCO) is hosting the
third annual Opioid and Substance Use
Summit on Monday and Tuesday, April
23 and 24, at the Seaside Civic and Con-

“Overdose deaths from opioids
in Clatsop, Columbia, and Tillamook
counties still exceed the average for the
state of Oregon,” said Safina Koreishi,
M.D., medical director for Columbia Pa-
cific CCO. “Over the last couple of years
we have made great progress on a variety
of initiatives, including trainings on safe
prescribing and difficult conversations
for primary care providers, completion
of regional prescribing guidelines and
increasing the use of Naloxone for emer-
gency responders. We hope to build on
our progress to address opioids and sub-
stance use through a trauma-informed

All community members from
Columbia, Clatsop, and Tillamook
counties are invited to attend this event,

LAIKA Entertainment
Presentation at the Library
Characters from the Hallmark production Jingle and Bell came to visit
the Vernonia Library, along with Crystal Talbaldo of LAIKA Entertainment, for
a presentation on stop-motion animation. The event was attended by about 40
people and was sponsored by Vernonia Hands on Art.
LAIKA animation is featured in a major exhibit at the Portland Art
Museum now through May 20, including interactive family events on Sundays,
April 15 and May 20. The exhibit’s focus is puppets, props and sets from over
ten years and four films.
