Your Horoscope for December 2017
By Stacey Lynn
Sagittarius (November 22-December 21) In
relationships things come your way without
‘trying’ to make it happen. At work collabo-
rations need to be carefully examined. Make
most financial decisions in January. Stress can
lead to accidents. Relax, focus, make a list of
priorities, and figure out what’s most impor-
tant to you.
Capricorn (December 22-January 19) This
month may begin with disappointment and
frustration. This all improves at month’s end.
Work may find you worked up over a group
project. Find strategies toward the future. Take
better care of yourself and stick around home.
Enjoy your privacy, family, and close friends.
Aquarius (January 20-February 18) You
get close to happiness, but can’t quite grab it
with both hands. Are you playing hard to get?
Answers come in January. Full speed ahead
at work. You seem to be trying to do it all. Be
careful with income resulting from partner-
ships. Show restraint during the holidays.
Don’t force your views on others.
Pisces (February 19-March 20) There may
be ties between your personal life and work.
It could become complicated. Professionally
you may find yourself in the spotlight. Luck
can bring the right connections. Your energy
is good but you may become wreckless. Bal-
ance and caution serve you. The 2018 stars are
bright for you.
Aries (March 21-April 19) It is time to take a
stand on love or marriage. Something from
spring comes back into focus. Work is good in
connection with journeys and long distance
collaborations. Your health depends on how
you focus on priorities; take care of yourself
and know when to relax. Be careful when
spending.
linked with big responsibilities. Things are in-
tense in both love and work. Much to do, com-
plex issues and you feel things aren’t moving
ahead, but they are. It’s a good time to adjust
your lifestyle. Burn up extra energy by being
active. Clean up your living space.
Leo (July 23-August 22) Indecision, con-
fusion, contradictions... Analyze romantic
situations. Logic will clear up most things by
month’s end. Enjoy the suprises and adven-
tures until then. Make the most of your talents
at work. Income can grow through luck or
investments, but not gambling or ‘bargains’.
Don’t over spend.
Virgo (August 23-September 22) You are a
bit more tender now. Make your nest more
comfortable. Communications and travels are
exciting. Cooperation is important through-
out the month, both professionally and mon-
ey related. Don’t get worked up. Present your
arguments in a calm and civil manner. Avoid
carelessness while driving.
Libra (September 23-October 21) There
may be changes in your love life. Diplomatic
discussions will solve almost anything. Mind
and communication make a great impact on
your career. Great potential for profit. Limit
stress and avoid intellectual exhaustion. Be
clear in any communications you have with
higher ups.
Scorpio (October 22-November 21) Con-
quest, adventure, and a lot of stamina are
involved in your love life. Love rules your de-
scision making process. It is time to set bold
and large scale projects into motion. Evaluate
goals and resources. Risky actions have a neg-
ative impact on your body. Don’t spend more
than you have and create debt.
Taurus (April 20-May 21) Relation-
ships are intense, passionate, and pos-
sibly spiced up with some temper flare
ups. Simmer down. Work collabora-
tions are productive. There could be
dealings with financial institutions like
banks, insurance, the IRS, etc. Be diplo-
matic. Conflicts and excesses can affect
health. Spend, but save more.

CASA for Children Named
Outstanding Volunteer Group
The Association of Fun-
draising Professionals (AFP) of
Oregon and SW Washington pre-
sented CASA (Court Appointed
Special Advocate) for Children
of Multnomah, Washington, and
Columbia Counties with the Out-
standing Volunteer Group Philan-
thropy Award at their annual lun-
cheon on November 13, 2017.
The AFP Philanthropy
Awards are presented to individu-
als and groups whose generos-
ity has made a significant impact
on the lives of the people in our
communities. As Dawn Johnston,
Board President of the AFP Or-
egon & SW Washington Chapter,
explained “...the purpose of this
special day remains as necessary
today as it was in its inception - in
fact, perhaps more. The commit-
ment to gather in fellowship with
one another and show gratitude
for one another remains the same;
philanthropy after all means the
love of humankind, no matter
how technology advances, how
the profession evolves, or how
greatly the world around us ebbs
and flows.”
Carla Rose, a CASA for
over six years, and CASA Pro-
gram Manager for Washington
County Georgia McGinnis Rob-
erts, who has also been a CASA
for 16 years, accepted the award
on behalf of all CASA volunteers.
In 1986 CASA for Chil-
dren opened its doors with the
goal of training citizen volunteers
to advocate for children in the
foster care system who have been
abused or neglected. In the past
20 years, beginning with an initial
graduating class of five CASAs,
to a current active roster of over
470 active CASAs, their advo-
cacy has helped over 22,000 chil-
dren and young adults navigate
the child welfare and dependency
court system safely, quickly, and
effectively.
This year our volunteers
will devote an estimated 113,280
hours, or the equivalent of $2.3
million of paid time.
As CASA plans for the fu-
ture of the agency the primary ob-
jective continues to be providing
more children and young adults
with the benefits of a CASA. This
year over 470 active CASA vol-
unteers will serve nearly 1,100
children in the foster care system
with the ultimate goal of quickly
and effectively securing a safe and
permanent home for these young
people.

come a CASA volunteer, upcom-
ing trainings, or future fundrais-
ing events, please contact Anne

velopment and Communications

Gemini (May 22-June 20) You may
find yourself reflecting on love or mar-
ried life. December will end in harmo-
ny, so stay cool. Full speed ahead at
work. Be clear in all communications.
A tendency to over do it and excess
are enemies to health. Do not rush to
judgement. Things aren’t all that they
seem.
