Salmon Festival
The Vernonia community gathered at the annual Salmon Festival
in Hawkins Park to celebrate the fall harvest and the return of
the salmon to the Upper Nehalem Valley. The festival featured
activities for kids like pumpkin carving, scarecrow making, and
a kids trout pond, food and craft vendors, and
live music performed by Vernonia’s
own Sara McMahon (above).
Later in the evening the Vernonia Grange hosted an
event with a historic logging slide presentation by
local woodworker Cory Colburn (left), live music by
Dillon and Melody Bloomer from Mist (below), and
Timberbound (far left), and a square dance with the
Clatsop County String Band.
