VHS Fall Sports Report
Middle School runner Sadie
Gump continued her strong season with
a 4th place finish overall and finished 2nd
among all 8th graders and Delaney Drae-
ger finished 2nd among all 6th graders
and took 7th place overall.
The teams both head to the pre-
district meet on Friday, October 20 where
the coaches and runners will get a chance
to gauge their chances in the District
Meet on October 27. The top five indi-
vidual finishers automatically qualify for
the state meet, along with the top three
teams in the 17 team District, based on
the scores of their top five finishers. Ac-
cording to Roady Jake Handegaard is cur-

Jenna Handegard, Jakob Handegard, and Adele
Cousseau were named All League in cross country.
rently ranked 2nd in the District
but has yet to beat the 3rd-5th
place runners in head-to-head
competitions. Massengo, who
has been fighting a calf injury,
would really have to improve
his time significantly to qualify
for state as an individual, but
the boys team have a solid shot
at qualifying if all top five run-
ners place high enough. For the
girls, Jenna Handegard is cur-
rently ranked 6th in the District
and both she and Cousseau have
a shot at qualifying for state in-
dividually.
