Meet the Exchange Students

Vanessa Wollny is from Berlin, Ger-
many. She is on the JV volleyball
team, will play basketball in the win-
ter, and softball in the spring. She is
spending this year with the Swepston
family. This is Vanessa’s first time in
the U.S. but she has traveled to Spain,
France, England, Poland, Holland, and
Albania. She says she likes American
burgers, either with or without cheese,
and tacos.
Each year Vernonia wel-
comes a collection of foreign ex-
change students to our community,
and this year is no different. Stu-
dents from around the globe will
spend this school year attending
Vernonia High School, playing
sports, participating in community
and school activities, and building
what sometimes become lifelong
friendships. This year 13 exchange
students are calling Vernonia home.
Vernonia’s Voice is pleased to intro-
duce these students to the rest of the
community in this and our next is-
sue.
