Lady Loggers Fail to Advance in State Playoffs
The Vernonia Lady Loggers fell to
the Monroe Dragons 9-7 on May 24 in the
first round of the OSAA 2A/1A State Soft-
ball Championships.
The loss ended the Lady Loggers
2017 season, a year which saw them win the
District Championship with an 11-1 league
record and a 15-6 record overall.
The end of the season also brought
to an end the high school careers of several
perennial starters for the Lady Loggers, in-
cluding Payton Wolf, Pearl Cook, Allegra
Poetter and Cassidy Whitton.

Jr. Salmon Auction Raises Funds for School Arts
Student art work was on display and up for auction
at the 8 th Annual Jr. Salmon Auction at the Vernonia Schools
on May 25.
Vernonia High School art students created original
art pieces on blank salmon cut outs which were auctioned
off during the event, helping to raise $2,800 for Vernonia
Hands On Art and the schools
art programs. Several of the
pieces of student art sold for
over $100 during the eve-
ning. Students also decorat-
ed pieces of furniture which
were also auctioned off.
Vernonia School Board Meetings are
held on the second Thursday of each
month. The next School Board Meeting
is scheduled for June 8 at 6:00 pm
in the Schools Library.
