Scholarships Available
to Local Students
Every year Wauna Credit
Union (WCU) awards higher education
scholarships to student members. The
annual scholarships are one of many ways
that WCU gives back to the communities
that it serves.
Recipients must have graduated
from high school within the last fi ve
years and be a member in good standing
of WCU. Former winners are eligible
to re-apply. The WCU Scholarship
Committee determines the number and
amount of scholarships to be awarded
depending on the number of applicants.
Scholarships are awarded for post-high
school education. The scholarship may be
used for tuition, room, board, books and
fees.
Applications are now being
accepted through April 15, 2017.
Scholarship winners will be notifi ed
in June, 2017. The application form is
available through a link on the home
page of the WCU website, at any WCU
branch, and at the local high schools.
Applications may be returned to any

February 2017
Mason Hummel
Grade 4
Mason really likes to volunteer in her community.
She was a volunteer with SKIP, a program for
special needs children, and she occasionally
helps cook breakfast at Grace Family Fellowship
Church. She also helps distribute Love Rocks
around the community to help cheer up strang-
ers. Mason says she loves studying science in
school and is part of the after school science
club. She plays softball in the spring and is part
of the Good News Club.
Jenna Romaine
Grade 7
Jenna is known as an excellent student who tries
her hardest and produces wonderful work. She
says her favorite subject is math. She plays
softball and hopes to do 4-H with horses in the
future. In her spare time she likes to do art and
care for her cat, bunny, and hamster.
Vivianna Bustamante
Grade 12
Vivianna is a very involved and engaged student.
She says her favorite subject is English. She was
named First Team All League in basketball and is
currently playing softball. She is the co-chair of
the Project Based Learning Class. She was
named to the Homecoming Court. She is
currently part of the School-to-Work program
and is working at True Value part-time.
