Claudia Oblack
Named “My Fair Lady”
On July 20th the Retired Senior
Volunteer Program (RSVP) celebrated
the 28th annual My Fair Lady pageant
on the main stage at the Columbia
County Fair.
Claudia Oblack, representing
Vernonia, was crowned queen.
The pageant honors senior
women nominated and selected to
represent their communities.
Claudia joins other recent
winners from Vernonia: Ruth Bell,
Necia DeWitt, Sally Harrison and Ann
Mitchell.
These ladies are outstanding
volunteers that work to make their
communities a better place to live.
An estimated 200-250 people
gathered to watch the event. Columbia
River PUD is the main pageant sponsor,
and both the PUD and RSVP work to
coordinate the pageant. The emcees
were Columbia County Commissioner
Henry Heimuller and Diane Dillard;
both sit on the RSVP Advisory Council.
RSVP is a national service
program sponsored locally by Columbia
River Fire & Rescue, and serves
volunteers 55 and
older throughout
the county. The My
Fair Lady court will
serve as goodwill
ambassadors
to
RSVP throughout
the year, helping
to honor other
volunteers.
