James Patrick “Pat” Lloyd James Patrick “Pat” Lloyd, beloved husband, father, teacher and friend passed away at his home in Brightwood, Oregon, June 30th, 2016. He was 79 and loved life. Pat Lloyd was born November 17, 1936, the first of four children to Jewel and Hazel Lloyd of Vernonia, Oregon. Pat earned his bachelor’s degree in education from Oregon College of Education and later his master’s degree in education from the University of Portland. Throughout his career, “Mr. Lloyd” was a beloved physical education teacher and coach to thousands of students in the Lynch and Gresham School Districts. In addition to coaching many school sports Pat owned and ran Gresham Gymnastics Club for over 20 years. Three ever-present interests of Pat’s were nature, physical fitness and rock and lapidary work. He found great joy in each, and in the latter, making beautiful jewelry for his loved ones. He loved sharing his time and wisdom and remained engaged and curious in the world until the very end. Pat is survived by his loving wife of 31 years, Patricia Tennant Lloyd, siblings Roberta Elliot, Nancy Daily and Neil Lloyd. His children are Mark, Julie, Tracy, Susan and Vicki Lloyd (by first wife Barbara Wehrly), Scott and Jaime Lindsay and Tracy Klosterman. Pat was predeceased by his youngest daughter, Amy Elizabeth, in 1982. He will also be missed by 15 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren. A memorial was held for the many who loved and appreciated Pat Lloyd on Saturday, July 30, 2016 at Dexter McCarty Middle School in Gresham. Ralph E. Bergerson Ralph E. Bergerson, 90, a former resident of the Vernonia community, late of Forest Grove, died Wednesday morning, February 17, 2016 at the Jennings McCall II Assisted Living Center in Forest Grove. A Graveside Service will be held on Saturday, August 13, 2016 at 2:00 pm at the North Cemetery of Clear Creek, 57109 Timber Road in Vernonia, with Pastor John Cahill, officiating. Concluding Rites and Interment will follow at the cemetery. Ralph Elllis Bergerson was born January 31, 1926 in Vernonia, Oregon, the son of the late Elmer Bergerson and Blanche (Easterly) Bergerson. He was raised and received his education in the Vernonia community, having been a graduate of the Vernonia High School Class of 1948. Upon his high school graduation he attended Pacific University in Forest Grove for three years. He was united in marriage to Helen “Jean” Craig on August 20, 1950 in Hood River, Oregon. Following their marriage they resided in Hood River for two years until they moved to the Vernonia community, where he had resided until August of 2012 when he moved to the Jennings McCall Retirement Community, where he resided since. Ralph was preceded in death by his wife, Helen on April 16, 1981, after celebrating 31 years of marriage together. While living in the Hood River community, he worked as the Hood River County Clerk for two years. They then returned to the Vernonia community, where he went to work for U.S. Bank, Vernonia Branch. Ralph worked for the Bank for thirty years, until he retired as the Branch Manager. He had been a member of the Masonic Lodge A.F. & A.M Vernonia Chapter having served as the Past Grand Master, a charter and founding member of the Izaak Walton Nehalem Valley Chapter, the Vernonia Chamber of Commerce, and the North Cemetery of Clear Creek having served as the secretary/treasurer, and the American Cancer Society having served as the State Secretary. He also was preceded in death by his parents Elmer and Blanche Bergerson, his brother Melvin Bergerson, his sister Evelyn Bergerson, and his son Craig Olaf “Ole” Bergerson. Surviving are his daughter and son-in-law Kathy and Bill Magaziner of Castle Rock, Colorado, and his brother and sister-in-law Donald and Barbara Bergerson of Vernonia. Also surviving are his six grandchildren, David Razner of Denver, Colorado; Brittany Bergerson of Hillsboro; twins Morgan Bergerson and Matthew Bergerson both of Forest Grove; Don Bergerson and Fred Bergerson both of Vernonia; and several nieces and nephews.
