St. Helens Welcomes New Law Librarian

The Columbia County Law
Library now has a librarian on site.

Pam Schultz Davis, a member of
the Oregon State Bar on inactive status,
will be in the library every Tuesday and
Thursday from 10:30 am to 2:30 pm to
help both legal professionals and the
general public with legal research.

The law library shares a building
with the Oregon Law Center and several
local attorneys at 270 S. First St. in St.
Helens.

“I’ll be available to help patrons
locate research materials as well as legal
information and forms,” says Davis,
who notes that many county residents
represent themselves in various legal
settings. “My goal is to help both
professionals and the public make the
best possible use of the wonderful
resources available at our library.” The
library provides a variety of print and
digital resources.

The Columbia County Law
Library has recently undergone
renovation. Patrons will find it to be a
calm, clean, cool, well-lit, comfortable
space for research, reading and writing.
It offers two internet-equipped computer
stations and Wi-Fi for patrons that bring
their own digital devices. There are also
tables for meetings and equipment for
photocopies, printing and scanning.

Although the law library will
continue to serve local lawyers (who
have access to the collection 24/7), the
library is now expanding its focus to
become a legal resource center for the

Fall sports are just ahead of us
and many of our youth participate. The
Oregon School Activities Association
(OSAA) requires that all sports
participants have a sports physical exam
every two years to help ensure the safety
of our young athletes.

Spencer Health and Wellness,
your Vernonia school-based health
center, is here for your athlete! Starting
Monday, August 8, Spencer Health and
Wellness will be open on Mondays and
Wednesdays from 8:00 am to 3:30 pm to
meet your student’s health care needs.

The deadline for fall sports
physicals is August 15. Schedule an
appointment for a sports physical at
Spencer Health and Wellness by calling
the Public Health main office at (800)
244-4870.

In addition to sports physicals,
Spencer Health and Wellness offers a
entire community.

In addition to Oregon statutes
and other state and federal law books,
patrons will find a section of self-help
legal manuals, called NOLO Guides
(as well as online access to all NOLO
publications), and a document rack
filled with legal information and forms
designed to help the general public.
Private work spaces, comfortable seating
and conference tables are available for
public use.  Private conference facilities
elsewhere in the building may be rented
for a modest fee through the Oregon
Law Center.

For more information, stop by
or call Pam Davis at (503) 396-5344.
