He was raised and received his education
in the Clatskanie community.
He was united in marriage to
Nancy L. Akers on August 14, 1965 in

1990, when he retired.
He was a member of the
Columbia County Mounted Posse. Clair
was a 4-H leader for kid’s forestry clubs
and a basketball coach at Mist School
during the 1950s.
Among his special interests
he enjoyed attending rodeos, riding his

collecting model cars. Clair also liked
watching tractor programs and attending
auto shows.

SENIOR SIGN OFF:
Speaking of making money in our older age: A
lawyer and senior sat together on an airplane
flight. The lawyer suggested a game: “I ask
you a question, if you can’t come up with the
answer you give me a dollar. Then you ask me
a question, if I can’t answer, I’ll give you $20.”
The senior relented to play. Lawyer: “How far
apart are the earth and moon?” The senior,
remaining quiet, handed him a dollar. Senior
to lawyer: “ What walks upstairs backward and
comes downstairs forward?” The know-it-all
lawyer was stumped, searching every corner
of his brain, then handed over the $20. Later
in the flight he woke up the sleeping senior. “I
can’t stand it, what’s the answer!?” The senior
got out his wallet, gave the lawyer a dollar, and
went back to sleep. Now, THAT was a money
making move! See, opportunities are out
there!
See ya’ around town.
