Schools Update: Class Configurations and Kindercamp Opportunity

Classroom configurations will
change at Vernonia Elementary School
for the 2016-17 school year. These
changes in configurations are a direct
result of student population, parent input
and staff instructional decisions.
• Kindergarten students will be together
in one non-blended classroom.
• First and second graders will be in
three 1 st /2 nd Grade blended classrooms.
• Grades three, four and five will all be
in straight grade level classrooms, with
one third grade, two fourth grade and
one fifth grade classrooms.

structional program is the addition of a

and Baseball Awards
Several Vernonia High
School (VHS) softball and baseball
players received end of the year
league awards, including Kassidy
Fetch, who was named Player of the
Year for District 1 and VHS head
coach Mike Fetch, who took home
Coach of the Year honors.
Pitcher Kassidy Fetch was
joined on the First Team All League
by 2 nd baseman Allegra Poetter,
shortstop Payton Wolf, and catcher
Pearl Cook. Named Second Team
All League were first baseman Paige
Smith, pitcher/outfielder Joyce
Everett and third baseman Sara
Smith. Outfielder Cassidy Whitton
was named Honorable Mention.
In baseball, Brett Elliot
was the only Logger to receive First
Team All League honors. Infielders
Brendyn Mulliken and Hayden
Cieloha, along with catcher Gavin
Everett were all named Second Team
All League. Pitcher Bailey Morrison
and infielder Steele Ware received
Honorable Mention.
summer Kindercamp to help incoming
kindergarten students transition smooth-
ly into their new school setting. Kinder-
camp is available for ALL incoming kin-
dergarten students. Please call the school
at (503) 429-1333 to enroll your student.
Kindercamp will run from
8:30 am-Noon, Monday-Thursday, the
weeks of August 15-18 and August
22-25. This opportunity will provide
students the ability to get to become
comfortable in their new classroom, to
get to know their teacher, to learn the
routines of the classroom and generally
become acquainted with their school and
routines prior to other students being in
the building.
