obituaries In Memory of... David Michael Berge March 10, 1945-November 11, 2015 David Michael Berge, a former resident of Vernonia, passed away quietly at Adventist Hospital on November 11, 2015 with his wife Dana at his side. While living in Vernonia Dave split his time working as a logger, as a commercial fisherman in Alaska and playing music. He served his country in the U.S. Navy in Vietnam. He finished his working career as a machinist at Halton Tractor in Portland where he spent 23 years. He also lived in North Plains, Portland, and Canby before marrying Dana in 2009 and moving to Oregon City. A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, December 5 in Vernonia at Homewood, the Keasey Farm at 14504 Keasey Road; Honor Guard at 12:00 PM and celebration at 1:00 PM. All friends and family are invited to attend and share a potluck meal, remembrances, and music. Beverly A. “Bev” Cline Beverly A. “Bev” Cline, 83, a former native of the Vernonia community, late of Fircrest, Washington, died Sunday morning, November 22, 2015 at her home. Family Graveside Services will be held on Friday, December 4, 2015 at 1:00 pm at the Vernonia Memorial Cemetery, 2080 Bridge Street in Vernonia, with Pastor Grant Williams officiating. Concluding Rites and Interment will follow at the cemetery. Family and friends are invited to attend a reception immediately following the cemetery rites, to be held from 2:30 to 4:30 pm at the Vernonia Scout Cabin, 901 Park Drive in Vernonia, Oregon. Beverly Ann Cline was born October 12, 1932 in Vernonia, Oregon, the daughter of Dane Brady and Mildred (Bergerson) Brady. She was raised and received her education in the Vernonia community, having been a graduate of the Vernonia High School Class of 1950. She was united in marriage to Donald Purcell “Don” Cline on May 6, 1951 in Vernonia. Following their marriage, Don was career military, serving in the U.S. Air Force. His assignments took them to Paris, France; Mt. Home, Idaho; Madrid, Spain; Goose Bay, Labrador; Washington; California; Burma and, finally, Tacoma, Washington in 1971 when he retired after serving for twenty years. Bev had worked for the Department of Defense while her husband, Don, served in the U.S. Air Force. She volunteered at the USO Club at McChord Air Force Base in Tacoma. Bev was a lifelong member of the Lutheran Church, having been an active member of the local parishes in the communities they lived. Among her special interests she enjoyed touring the country in their motorhome, shopping, traveling abroad, and spending time with her granddaughters and great-grandchildren. Bev was preceded in death by her husband, Don, on October 31, 1993 in Seattle, Washington, after celebrating over forty-two years of marriage together. She was also preceded in death by her parents, Dane and Mildred Brady, her two brothers, Larry Brady and Terry Brady, and daughter, Julie Klepach. Survivors include her son, Steven Cline of Lakewood, Washington; her two brothers, Dane Brady of Nicaragua and James Brady of Portland, Oregon; and her sister, Elizabeth Solon of Pasadena, California. Also surviving are her three granddaughters and their families: Morgan Cline of New York City, New York; Sarah and James Cradit of Forest Grove, Oregon; and Jennifer Klepach of Fircrest, Washington. Owen Azreal “Sawyer” Owen was born on October 3, 1989 in Portland, Oregon, the son of Zackri Charles Owen and Glenda Marie (Wheeler) Hernandez. He was raised by his aunt Benny Owen and his grandmother Lois Brown. He received his education in the community of Vernonia. He worked as a laborer in New Orleans for several years before relocating to Salt Lake City, Utah. Sawyer was a member of the Donald J.
