Readers Lend Their Voices...
To the Editor,
Are the citizens of the
community aware that you’ll be having
a top-notch Las Vegas and Atlantic
City entertainer coming to Vernonia
on August 8th? The Class of 1975 is
planning a fundraising event that will
give you some great entertainment.
Quoting Judy Budge from Vernonia’s
Voice August, 2013 issue after attending
our Class of 1973 Give Back Bash
starring Justin Shandor (Elvis):
“What a bargain for people my
age not to have to drive or fly miles
away, stay in a hotel, buy meals, park,
etc. in order to watch a professional
entertainer work very hard to give a
great show!! We enjoyed ourselves
thoroughly at both shows. How
wonderful if we could get something
like that here again sometime!”
Well Judy and fellow
community members, “sometime” has
arrived. Thanks to Tammy (Smith)
Vanderzanden and her hard working
committee, you can see a first class
performer, Tony Pace. Whether or
not you’re a fan of supporting the
schools, this is a show you won’t want
to miss. While I have not seen him in
person, I have watched many of his
links and can’t wait to see his show.
My experience chairing a
committee like this makes me know
that Tammy is waiting for you to buy
your ticket, checking that site every
day wondering if they’re going to break
even, let alone make any money. Thanks
to the support of the community, the
Class of 1973 Give Back Bash was able
to donate over $10,000 to the Vernonia
Education Foundation for the Sports
Initiative. I’m proud to say that our
funds are currently helping build the
softball fields at the new school.
I hope that you’ll go to your
computers today and buy a ticket to the
show. Tickets start at $25. Here’s the
link and more about the event: http://

available by Brown Bag Tickets at

LAUGHTER
THROUGH
THE YEARS will be an all ages event
featuring the Las Vegas/Atlantic City
entertainer Tony Pace “the man with the
voice...who just happens to be funny.”
This event is a fundraiser in
memory of our Vernonia High School
Class of 1975 member Patrick Curl,
who recently passed away from cancer.
All proceeds will benefit
the Vernonia Sports Initiative Fund
specifically earmarked for Pat’s sports:
Cross Country and Track and Field
development at our new Vernonia
Schools.
The 90 minute show will keep
you amazed with impressions, comedy
and music. A three octave voice range
and 30 years of stage time experience
will keep you on the edge of your seat.
There will also be a VIP Event
Package Available for a limited amount
of ticket holders that will be prior to the
main event.
Don’t miss this once in a
lifetime event!
And remember, anything over
$15 is tax deductible on premium and
general admission seats, and over $50
is deductible for the VIP event!!
