I would like to thank West
Oregon Electric for all our new lights.
What a wonderful surprise and I’m
sure it will be of help to our electric
bill. Also, I want to thank “Soul” for
installing them in our home. He is a
great and charming young man. When
he was finished he said, “Thank you for
the history lesson, I have never seen so
many old things.”

Entry Level or Lateral Police Officer
Minimum Qualifications:
•
Capable of being DPSST
certified at the Basic level within 18
months
•
Ability to pass a P.O.S.T. test
•
Possess a valid Oregon Driver’s
License
•
Successful passing of intensive
personal and credit background
investigation
•
College credits in Criminal
Justice education or related field
preferred but not required
•
Positive recommendation from
previous employers
•
No previous Felony and certain
misdemeanor criminal convictions or
diversions

Physical fitness at the good to
excellent range; pass the O.R.P.A.T.
agility course at the Police Academy
Residency:
•
Residency is preferred, but not
required. Preference will be given to
applicants that are willing to live within
the Vernonia Fire District.
•
Residency incentive pay may
also be available as established in
the Collective Bargaining Agreement
between the City and the Vernonia
Police Association.
Salary Range:
This position is an entry level
position and is a represented position
covered by the Vernonia Police
Association. Salary and benefits are
subject to guidelines established in
the Collective Bargaining Agreement
between the City and Vernonia Police
Association.
