Landon Avenue Designs
Everything else is only new because Meyer made it or
designed it new herself.
Meyer had previously been working from her
home and garage before opening her retail space. She
now uses the back of the shop as a workshop space,
while displaying items in the three front rooms. She
says she also sells a lot of her items on her Etsy web-

page. Etsy is a website for people to buy
and sell handmade items. “Ninety per-
cent of what I sell is on-line,” says Meyer.
“Which means I don’t have to worry too
much when things are slow here in town
and in the store.”
Meyer says she loves doing custom
orders. She can create programs for events
as well as invitations for weddings and
baby showers. “I love doing those types
of projects,” she says. She is also happy to
change things she has already created. “If
someone comes in and says ‘I want that in
pink,’ I say, ‘OK, I can do that.’”
Meyer says she is constantly updating the shop with
new items and has been having a tough time keeping
items in stock. Meyer and her young family recently
purchased a home in Vernonia and look to be settling in
for the foreseeable future. “We are Vernonians,” says
Meyer. “We’re here to stay. I really like it here.”

The newly reformed Vernonia Pride group
completed their first major project on Saturday June 21 st .
Vernonia Pride, along with project sponsor The Vernonia
Area Chamber of Commerce, organized the painting of
the curbs in the downtown corridor of Vernonia, from
Rose Avenue, across the Rock Creek Bridge, and all the
way to California Avenue. Members of Vernonia Pride
and the Chamber worked together to plan the project,
partner with several local business owners, gather
supplies, and mobilize volunteers. Thanks to the City of
Vernonia for providing the yellow paint.
Watch for more opportunities to volunteer on
upcoming projects organized by Vernonia Pride.
