Things to Ponder
By Grant Williams
Do you ever feel all alone, like
no one really cares? You can be assured
that God is enthusiastically concerned
about your well being! God, who is
our Heavenly Father, is the greatest of
all parents. Good parents care about
everyone’s children, but have a special
place in their hearts for their own
children. In the Bible, the Old Testament
prophet Nahum, in chapter 1 verse
7 said, “The Lord is good, a refuge in
times of trouble. He cares for them who
trust in Him…”
Recently I drove into Portland
november21
on a business trip and everything was
going as planned until I jumped in the car
to head home. When I pushed my foot
on the brake to put the transmission into
reverse the petal went to the floor. I’m
not a mechanic, but I knew that wasn’t
good. I called AAA and they towed me
to a repair shop that discovered both
of my front brakes lines failed at the
same time. God was watching over me
because I was one emergency stop from
a crash. He is so concerned about the
details of our lives I was only delayed 3
hours. In situations like these we realize
how fortunate we are to have a Heavenly
Father who is watching out for us. Have
you placed your trust in Him today?
My desire for everyone reading
this column is that you are connected
to a local fellowship that will help
you grow in your faith and trust in our
Heavenly Father who cares for all of us.
If you aren’t currently attending a church
somewhere I would like to introduce you
to the “Open Door Gathering Place.” We
meet at the Vernonia Grange at 7:00 PM
on Wednesdays. Our purpose is to meet
the spiritual needs of people seeking a
mid-week service or who work on the
weekends and are not able to attend a
Sunday church service.
Because the holidays are upon
17
us I would like to let everyone know
we will not meet on November 27th,
December 25 th , and January 1 st so people
can travel and spend time with their
families. Questions or comments can be
directed to pastorgrantwilliams@gmail.
com or 503-702-3553.
Vernonia’s Voice is
published twice each
month on the 1st and 3rd

HOW TO SPOT A CON ARTIST: Warning sign
#1: Con artists blend in. Con artists know
that being themselves hurts business, so they
disguise their true motives. Con artists will take
great pains to look, sound, and speak like you,
and coincidentally, will have similar interests.
This is their way to befriend you and get you
to trust in them. Once that occurs, the con
begins.—from the Scam Jam
SENIOR SIGN OFF: On Christmas Eve, Santa
carries the bag. After Christmas, the parents
are left holding it.
