Equestrian Team Report Vernonia Students to
Host Doernbecher Days
The Equestrian Team completed another successful OHSET
event in McMinnville on the weekend of March 9 th .
“I am so pleased with our parental support and community
support at the last meet,” said coach Diane Benes. “There were quite
a few that showed up and gave support to the kids. Thank you!”.
Overall the team did better than their previous meet, and
showed great improvement. “They show a lot of promise for a
young team,” said Benes. “ They will be a team to contend with in
the coming years!”
Sheyanne Pedersen won the Breakaway Roping and
qualified for State.

Wolf Picked for Shrine Game

John Wolf has been
selected to compete
in the 61 st Annual
East West Shrine
Football Game.
Wolf was
selected to play
tight end and line-
backer. The game
will be played on
August 4 th , 2013 in Baker City at
Bulldog Stadium at 2:00 PM.
Each year Oregon’s fin-
est high school football players
from all over the state are chosen
to compete and raise money for
the Shriner’s Hospitals.
Wolf will par-
ticipate in a week
of practice, as
well as a breakfast
and parade before
the game.

on
both
offense
and defense and
named the Ver-
nonia Loggers Most Valuable
Player. As a wrestler, Wolf was
named 1 st Team All District and
won a fourth place medal at the
State Meet at 195 pounds.

Vernonia High School students, led by
Student Body President Samantha Wallace and
the Vernonia High School Leadership Class,
will host a series of events during the week
of April 8-13 to raise money for Doernbecher
Children’s Hospital.
“Doernbecher Days” will include
events and fundraisers during each day at
school. The community is also invited to
participate in several events on Friday and
Saturday.

one for younger kids (Wreck it Ralph) and one
for High School (Undecided). Both movie’s are
open to the public. Snacks will be sold before,
and during the movie. High School students
will be able to vote for their movie of choice to
be shown, during advisory.
