Happy Trails: A Report From the Rodeo Road
By Mackenzie Carr
Miss Rodeo America 2012
Hello everyone,

During my last full month as Miss Rodeo
America, I travelled to Guthrie, Oklahoma and
Hartford Connecticut. Both of these events consisted
Mackenzie with an aspiring rodeo queen at the National
Finals Steer Roping
of working and promoting two of Miss Rodeo America
Inc.’s sponsors, the PRCA and Absorbine. At both of
these appearances I was able to spend a good deal of
time really getting to know many of the people behind
the brand.

Made In Vernonia is full of gift
ideas that have been lovingly handcraft-
ed or created by local artists and
craftspeople. Where to start? MIV
features matted and framed pho-
tography from several local artists,
many featuring local landmarks
from around the Vernonia area.
Christie Davis is just one of the lo-
cal artists whose work is on display,
prices range from $50-$100. There
are also cards with some local im-
ages. For the men in your life look
no further than a handmade leather
belt from Gretchen’s Saddlery, to-
tally made in the USA, including
the buckle. These belts will last a
life time and for $55 are a great gift.
Pottery by Wanda Aszan also makes a
great gift; coffee mugs from $12-15, and
plenty of beautiful bowls, jars, lanterns
and more are on display. And there are
all kinds of jewelry from several local
artists—something for just about any-
one’s taste. Stop by and look around—if
you can’t find something here for every-
one on your list, then you aren’t looking
