In Memory of...
Kendall E. Grady
Kendall E. Grady, 15, a resident 
of  the  Scappoose  Community,  died 
Sunday  morning,  July  29,  2012  at 
Legacy  Emmanuel  Medical  Center  in 
Portland, Oregon.
 
A  Graveside  Service  was  held 
on  Friday, August  3, 2012  at 2:00  P.M. 
at  Vernonia  Memorial  Cemetery,  2080 
Bridge Street, with Pastor John Cahill, of 
Pioneer Baptist Fellowship, in Vernonia, 
officiating.
 
Family  and  friends  were 
invited  to  attend  a  potluck  reception 
immediately following the service, held 
at  the  Vernonia  Scout  Cabin,  901  Park 
Drive, in Vernonia.
 
KENDALL  ELAINE  GRADY 
was  born  on  August  29,  1996  in 
Hillsboro,  OR  the  daughter  of Timothy 
D.  and  Kathleen  M.  (Jones)  Grady. 
She  was  raised  in  the  communities 
TUALATIN VALLEY
FUNERAL ALTERNATIVES
of  Vernonia  and  Scappoose.  She  was 
currently  attending  Insight  School  of 
Oregon,  she  would  have  been  a  Junior 
this fall.
 
Among her special interests she 
enjoyed  listening  to  music,  spending 
time with friends and art.
 
Kendall is preceded in death by 
her uncles, Steve Grady and Rick Grady.
               Survivors include her parents, Tim 
and Kathy Grady, of the family home in 
Scappoose, OR; her grandparents, Mike 
and  Ilene  M.  Grady,  of  Vernonia,  OR 
and Paul and Linda Maxwell, of Eugene, 
OR; her sister and brother-in-law, Jamie 
and  Cory  Jaeger,  of Anchorage, Alaska 
and  her  brother,  Timothy  R.  Sparks, 
of  Scappoose,  OR.   Also  surviving  are 
several aunts, uncles and cousins.
 
The  family  suggests  that 
remembrances  may  be  contributions  to 
the  Kendall  E.  Grady  Memorial  Fund, 
c/o  any  Wauna  Federal  Credit  Union 
Branch, in her memory.

15,  1931  in  Medford,  OR  She  was 
one  of  two  children  born  to  the  late 
Kenneth  and  Selma  (Olson)  Williams. 
They followed her father’s career as an 
air  traffic  controller  and  had  lived  in 
Medford, Anchorage Alaska and finally 
settling  in  Beaverton  during  WWII. 
Yvonne graduated with the Class of ‘49 
from Beaverton High School.
 
She  was  united  in  marriage  to 
David  Ruehmann  in  the  fall  of  1949. 
Following  their  marriage  they  made 
their home in Beaverton until 1968 when 
they moved to Vernonia, OR. In the early 
1990’s they divorced. Yvonne continued 
to live in Vernonia until 1998 when she 
moved to Hillsboro. 
 
Besides  being  a  homemaker 
Yvonne  worked  for Tektronics  for  over 
25  years.  She  enjoyed  racing  cars, 
bowling and socializing.
 
She is preceded in death by her 
parents 
 
Survivors  include  her  son, 
Wally  Reuhmann  if  Ridgefield,  WA, 
two grandchildren; Erin & David, three 
great  grandchildren;  Emma,  Rhet  & 
Ashlin and a brother; Allen Williams of 
Portland, OR.

Vernonia Seventh-day Adventist Church, 
where she was an active member.
 
SUSAN  CLAIRE  TANDY 
was  born  September  6,  1942  in  Napa, 
California, a daughter of the late Oscar 
Frasier and Carolyn June (Oakes) Tandy. 
She was raised and educated in Napa and 
Lodi,  California,  attended  Napa  Junior 
Academy and being graduated with the 
class of 1960 at Lodi Academy.
 
Susan  was  accepted  at  Pacific 
Union  College  in  Angwin,  California 
where in 1964 she received her Bachelor 
of Arts Degree in Secretarial Science.
 
Susan  then  moved  to  Loma 
Linda, California where she worked for 
several years as an Executive Secretary 
at  Loma  Linda  University.  She  was 
also  a  successful  Sales  Manager  for 
Tupperware.
 
With her dentist husband, Susan 
moved  to  Iowa,  residing  in  Clarinda, 
Iowa until 2009, when after her divorce 
she  moved  to  Vernonia,  Oregon  and 
resided here until her death.
 
Susan  was  a  member  of 
the  National  Multiple  Sclerosis 
Society,  Oregon  Chapter.    She  was 
well-read  and  had  wide-ranging 
interests  including  national  politics, 
writing  and  volunteering.    She  was  a 
formidable Scrabble player.  She was a 
knowledgeable  lay  Bible  scholar.    She 
enjoyed  keeping  up  with  friends  and 
maintained  phone  and  mail  contact 
Susan C. Tandy
with  dozens  of  old  and  new  friends 
across the country and abroad. She was 
an  outgoing  and  cheerful  person  who 
relished  conversing  and  visiting  with 
those around her. Susan was personable, 
generous  and  selfless.    She  was  loved 
by many people, and will be very much 
missed.
 
Susan was preceded in death by 
her  parents;  and  by  her  daughter  Holly 
Owen,  son-in-law  Gerry  Owen  and  her 
grandson, Bryce Owen.
 
Survivors  include  her  brother 
and  sister-in-law,  Douglas  and  Melissa 
Tandy  of  Vernonia,  Oregon  and  her 
sister,  Dr.  Cindy  Tandy  of  Valdosta, 
Georgia.
 
The  family  suggests  that 
remembrances  may  be  contributions 
to  the  Seventh-day  Adventist  Church 
of  Vernonia,  1294  Nehalem  Street, 
Vernonia, Oregon 97064, in her memory.
