rodeo contestants the opportunity to win
large amounts of money in a short period
of time. This was the first time I had been
to the Cody Stampede, as well as the
northern part of Wyoming. Throughout
my stay, I did everything from promoting
and working the rodeo, to rafting on the
Shoshone River. Being from a state that
receives a great deal of rain, I seem to
bring precipitation with me everywhere
I travel to; even Wyoming. It had been
scorching hot most of the week, but the
day of the rafting trip, it decided to rain

could do nothing but laugh and think,

rodeo draws people from all over the
world who are craving some rowdy
western fun. Not only did I get to ride
at incredible speed down the race track
during my “fly by,” I also saw the great
Merle Haggard in concert and flipped
hundreds of pancakes at the pancake
feed. This rodeo definitely lived up to its
well-known reputation!
My last stop on July’s rodeo
road, was the small town of Mitchell,
Nebraska. This was the first time Miss
Rodeo America has ever attended this
rodeo. I had heard prior to going, that
Mitchell is so small that you could spit
