St. Helens Community FCU
Names New CEO and CFO
Brooke Van Vleet, a twenty year
veteran of the credit union movement in
Oregon, has joined St. Helens Community
FCU as President/CEO, the credit union
announced today.
Van Vleet most
recently served as Chief Administrative
Officer at First Tech FCU.
“We’re thrilled to have someone
with Brooke’s background join the
St. Helen’s team. She brings a new
perspective to the credit union and her
strong leadership skills will be an asset to
our organization,” stated Lea Chitwood,
Chairman of the Board.
Van Vleet is a recognized leader
in the Oregon credit union community
and has served in multiple roles at the
state and regional association level.
Her senior management experience at
Oregon’s two largest credit unions gives
her a perspective on the evolving financial
marketplace that will prove valuable as
SHCU continues to seek innovative ways
to better serve its membership.
“Brooke is an experienced, trusted credit
union executive and we are fortunate
to have her leading our credit union.
We know we can rely on her guidance
in these challenging economic times,”
Chitwood added.
In her first official action, Van
Vleet has recommended, and the Board
has agreed, to terminate the recently
announced letter of intent to explore a
merger with Wauna FCU. “My focus
needs to be on the day-to-day operations
and getting up to speed quickly on current
initiatives,” stated Van Vleet. Chitwood
agrees.
“While the Board still believes
we should always explore strategic
options that may benefit our members,
we concur with Van Vleet’s assessment
that the credit union’s energy currently
needs to be focused on maximizing value
to the membership through our current
initiatives,” Chitwood said.
The credit union also announced that
Randy Goshow has joined the credit
union as SVP and CFO. Goshow most
recently served as VP Business Systems
at Clackamas FCU and has over twenty
five years credit union experience in a
variety of finance and IT leadership roles
in Oregon credit unions.

Between Local
Credit Unions
The board of directors for St
Helens Community Federal Credit
Union notified the Wauna FCU board
of directors that they have terminated
the Letter of Intent to continue
discussions about a potential merger
of the two credit unions.
According
to
Robert
Blumberg, Wauna FCU CEO &
President, “This action ends further
discussion between the credit unions
about a merger. As we stated in our
previous announcements, it remains
business as usual at Wauna Federal
Credit Union, no matter what the
discussions might have generated.”
Wauna FCU continues to
provide the highest levels of service
to members and to update to new
technologies to further increase
