Firefighters Battle Wildfire
Ridgeriders Host Poker Ride
continued from front page
them haven’t been on that many calls
and they all did a really good job. It’s
great when we get into the heat
of things, all the training seems
to come together and they just
do what they need to do.”
Simek also praised
the work of the local firefight-
ers. “According to our Incident
Commander Vernonia and Mist-
-Birkenfeld did an excellent
job.” Simek noted that there
were no injuries during the re-
sponse. “They were working on
really steep ground, which pro-
vides lots of opportunities for
people to get hurt,” said Simek.
“They did a real bang up job.”
Simek said the cause of
the wildfire was under investiga-
tion. He noted that ODF would
have a presence at the site for
several weeks to “mop up” and make
sure the fire doesn’t reignite or spread.
The Vernonia Ridge Riders held a
Poker Ride and Play Day on Saturday
July 14th. A large crowd turned out for
the ride, camp out, BBQ chicken lunch,
and prizes.
