Giovanni Jules Scotto

pride  the  birth  of  their  beautiful  son, 
Giovanni Jules.  Born June 8th, weighing 
7lbs 10oz. Proud grandparents: Sal and 
Pam  Scotto,  Vernonia,  Oregon  and 
Susan Blevins, Kalispell, Montana.
In Memory of...
Cloice Leslie Hall
CLOICE  LESLIE  HALL,  89, 
a  resident  of  the  Portland  community, 
died  Wednesday  morning,  June  27, 
2012,  at  St.  Vincent  Hospital  in 
Portland, Oregon. 
 
Cloice  Leslie  Hall  was  born 
February  18,  1923,  in  Battleground, 
Washington, the son of the late Charles 
“Les” and Edith Bagby Hall.  He moved 
to Vernonia with his family when he was 
a boy, where he was raised and received 
his  education.    Cloice  was  a  graduate 
of Vernonia High School class of 1942, 
where he was a standout in football and 
track.  
 
Shortly  after  graduating  high 
school,  Cloice  joined  the  Merchant 
Marines and served as a Naval Officer 
in World War II.
 
Cloice  worked  in  the  logging 
industry;  owned  and  operated  a 
commercial long haul truck; and, owned 
and  operated  a  successful  excavation 
business.   
 
He  was  united  in  marriage  to 
Lynne on September 9, 1980.  Following 
their marriage, they made their home in 
the Vancouver, WA community until his 
retirement.  Following their retirement, 
they  moved  to  Louisiana,  where  they 
lived  for  fifteen  years.    In  2009,  they 
moved  back  to  Portland,  where  they 
have resided since.
 
Cloice  was  a  member  of  the 
Seventh  Day  Adventist  Church  in 
Mandeville,  Louisiana.    Among  his 
special  interests,  Cloice  enjoyed  race 
car driving, riding motorcycles, golfing, 
scuba  diving,  flying  his  airplane, 
boating,  racing  his  snow  mobile,  and 
traveling. 
 
Survivors  include  his  wife, 
Lynne Hall of Portland; his daughter and 
son-in-law, Allyson and Keith Cameron 
of Vernonia, OR; his son and daughter-
in-law, Alan Hall and Idamay Curtis of 
Edmonds, WA; his son and daughter-in-
law, Curt and Susie Hall of St. Helens, 
OR;  his  grandsons,  Sean  and  Ryan 
Hall; his great grandchildren, Kase and 
Audrianna  Hall;  his  stepson  and  his 
wife, Sean Murphy and Peggy Dorf; his 
stepdaughter, Deirdre Murphy; his step 
granddaughter, Sarah Murphy; and, his 
beloved quadruped, Barnaby.
 
A  graveside  service  will  be 
held  at Willamette  National  Cemetery, 
11800  S.E.  Mt.  Scott  Blvd,  Portland, 
OR on Thursday, July 12th at 1:00 p.m., 
with a reception immediately following 
at Avamere at Crestview nursing home, 
6530 S.W. 30th Avenue, Portland, OR.
 
The 
family 
encourages 
donations  to  the  American  Diabetes 
Association  at  P.O.  Box  11454, 
Alexandria, VA  22312.  Donations may 
also be made online.
 
The  Vernonia  School  District 
recently  received  two    grant  awards 
through    the  Oregon  Community 
Foundation.
•  $1000 to help pay for 6th grade Outdoor 
School.  The award was received  from 
the C.M. Bishop Jr. Family Fund of The 
Oregon Community Foundation
•    $25,740  to  pay  for  two  full  days  of 
teacher time for professional development
