Vernonia Youth Soccer-- Euro 2012 is
the UEFA Soccer championship that is
underway in Poland right now. National
European teams are playing to win the
coveted competition that happens every
four years.
Vernonia is gearing up for its
second British Soccer camp, run by
Challenger Sports, for kids 3-12. It will
take place July 16-20 at the High school

foot skills, technical drills, tactical
practices, games and scrimmages while
also teaching respect, responsibility,
integrity, sportsmanship and leadership.
The camp was a big success last year.

day on the weekends. If I got
too tired the loggers would
take over and cook their own
breakfasts and leave their
tabs on the cash register.”
Leonetti sold the
restaurant and opened a tav-
ern in Prescott during the
time the Trojan nuclear plant
was under construction and
then decided to get out of
the tavern business when he
found out he was going to
become a father. He came
back to Vernonia and opened
a restaurant again, this time
where the Chinese restaurant
now operates. From there he
moved to what was known as
the Pine Cone around 1981
and ran that for just over ten
years.
Eventually Leonetti
ended up in the current lo-
cation on Madison Avenue,
starting in 1993.
Today, Mario’s res-
taurant is going through
some changes once again.
Tunstall and Leonetti say
they hope to add a deli case
and serve food to go, like
their salads, their dressings
and salsas. They intend to
serve specialty Italian meats
like prosciutto and mortadel-
la.
Leonetti says they
are teaching their staff to fo-
cus on customer service and
training them to understand
what working in the food in-
dustry is really about.
Tunstall says she is
also making improvements
to the interior of the restau-
rant, like new table covers,
curtains and she hopes to
paint the inside of the build-
ing sometime soon.
