       Big brother Wyatt is happy to announce 
the  arrival  of  his  little  brother,  Weston 
Richard Dennis.
          He  was  born  on  May  5,  2012  and  
weighing  in  at  7  lbs,  11  oz.  and  21  1/4 
inches long.
        Proud parents are  Bryan and Katy 
Dennis of Vernonia, Oregon.  Grandparents 
are Donald and Juanita Dennis of Vernonia, 
Oregon  and  Dan  and  Debbie  Taylor  of 
Friday Harbor, Washington.
Rhoda  “Laura”  Buckner,  74, 
a  longtime  resident  of  the  Vernonia 
community,  died  Thursday  afternoon, 
May 10, 2012 in a single car motor vehicle 
accident.
 
A  catered  Celebration  of  Life 
Memorial  will  be  held  on  the  3 rd   of 
June  2012  from  1:00  to  4:00  PM.    at  the 
Vernonia Scout Cabin, 901 Park Drive in 
Vernonia, Oregon.
              RHODA “LAURA” BUCKNER 
was born September 23, 1937 in Vernonia, 
Oregon,  the  daughter  of  the  late  Marvin 
Brewer  and  Annie  (Cockrell)  Robbins. 
Laura  was  raised  and  received  her 
education  in  the  Vernonia  community, 
graduating with the Vernonia High School 
Class of 1955.
               She was united in marriage to 
Richard “Max” Buckner on November 7,

1955 in Vernonia. Following their marriage 
they made their home in Vernonia, where 
she resided until her death.
               Laura was preceded in death by her 
husband, Max, on February 1, 2011, after 
celebrating over fifty-six years of marriage 
together.
               She had worked for Tektronix, 
Inc.  in  Beaverton  for  several  years  and 
later owned and operated Vernonia Video 
Express.
               Laura had been a member of 
the Women’s  Bowling  League  and  was  a 
member  of  the  “Sweet Adeline’s”  Barber 
Shop Singing Group.
                             Among  her  special  interests 
she  enjoyed  baking,  cooking,  fishing  and 
caring for animals. Laura was well known 
for  her  wedding  cakes  in  which  she  took 
great pride and most important her family.
             She was also preceded in death 
by her parents, Marvin Brewer and Annie 
Robbins  and  two  brothers,  James  “Jim” 
Brewer and Ezra “Zeke” Brewer.
             Survivors include her two sons and 
a daughter-in-law, Terry Buckner; and Ed 
and  Dawn  Buckner,  all  of Vernonia,  OR; 
her three brothers and sisters-in-law, M.C. 
and  Laura  Brewer,  of  Clatskanie,  OR; 
John and Vicki Brewer, of Vernonia, OR; 
and Robert Robbins, of Washington State, 
her  three  sisters-in-law,  Billie  Brewer,  of 
Salem, OR; Karen Brewer, of Kelso, WA 
and Wilma “Willie” Brewer, of Vernonia, 
OR.
   
Also 
surviving 
are 
her 
four  grandchildren,  Kerry  Buckner 
Schaumburg;  Craig  Buckner;  Dean 
Buckner  Schaumburg,  and  April 
Buckner,  all  of  Vernonia;  her  five  great-
grandchildren,  Skylar,  Haven, Alexander, 
Slyas and Piper; and numerous nieces and 
nephews.
                              The  family  suggests  that 
remembrance contributions be sent to The

Grove.  
 
JOANN  PAULINE  WILLIAMS 
was  born  August  20,  1926  in  Chicago, 
Illinois,  the  daughter  of  the  late  Charles 
and  Nancy  (Parpart)  Zimmer.  She  was 
raised  and  received  her  education  in  the 
Chicago  community,  having  graduated 
high school in 1944.
 
She  was  united  in  marriage  to 
Robert  W.  Williams  on  July  6,  1947, 
in  Castro  Valley,  California.  Following 
their  marriage  they  lived  in  Hayward, 
California, until 2002 when they moved to 
Eugene, Oregon.
 
Joann  was  preceded  in  death  by 
Robert in 2006 after celebrating over fifty 
nine years of marriage together. Following 
Robert’s passing, Joann moved to Vernonia 
in 2010, where she has resided since.
 
She  was  a  homemaker.    Among 
her  special  interests  she  enjoyed  reading, 
listening to music and spending time with 
her children and grandchildren.
 
Joann  was  preceded  in  death  by 
her parents, Charles and Nancy Zimmer.
 
She  is  survived  by  her  three 
children,  Stephen  Williams,  of  Yoncalla, 
Oregon;  Karen  A.  Hall,  of  Vernonia, 
Oregon;  and  Robert  Williams  II,  and  his 
wife  Natalie,  of  Vernonia,  Oregon;  and 
her  two  sisters;  Eileen  Glenewinkel,  of 
Springfield,  Oregon  and  Lue  Barbara,  of 
Antigua, Guatemala. 
 
Also  surviving  are  her  three 
grandchildren  and  their  spouses,  Chris 
and Michelle Hall, of Las Vegas, Nevada; 
Robert  and  Melissa  Hall,  of  Millbrae, 
California; and Robert Barnes of Missouri; 
and  four  great-grandchildren,  Jazlynn, 
Joann P. Williams
 
JOANN  P.  WILLIAMS,  85,  Janessa,  Levi,  and Annalise  Hall,  several 
a  resident  of  Vernonia,  Oregon,  died  nieces  and  nephews,  including,  Lola  and 
Saturday (afternoon), May 5, 2012 at her  her  husband  Chuck  Alderson,  of  Jewell, 
home.
