Church News and Events
By Mark Brown
Hello Vernonia,
How are you doing today?
Not a bunch to say this week, it has
been very quiet. That might have
something to do with being gone last
week and feeling a little out of touch
with things.
We did say good bye to
some good friends and loved ones
this week, Etta, Lee, Kari, Genny,
Irish, and Mary. We ask for contin-
ued prayer and support from friends
and community. Life can be sad at
times like this. There is hope even
here, especially here!
Have any of you seen the
outside of the Nehalem Valley Bible
Church? It is looking very good,
yes! I hope to spend some time with
Pastor Gary and maybe be able to
give you an update sometime soon.
The Vernonia Christian
Church has the annual Sportsman
Banquet coming up. I also under-
stand that Pastor Sam also has a bow
ministry with a group of people--if
bow hunting is something you like
maybe you can give them a call and
check it out.
I just happen to know that
the Vernonia Community Church
is close to launching their new web
site. I got a sneak peak and it is pret-
ty nice! There have also been 12 new
ministries groups that are getting
some legs under them and beginning
to take shape. One of them will be
the youth team, we will be leaving
V-Town Saturday to go to City Team
Portland Missions and help feed and
support some folks down there. We
may also stop off and eat some Voo-
doo Donuts and go cosmic bowl-
ing. The Church also hopes to begin
a Saturday Night Service for youth
and younger people to be able to
meet that need in our community.
If you are interested in helping with
that give me a call--503-961-5281,
or email and we can talk about it;
aiming for a June/July startup date.
My thanks to the Verno-
nia Community Theater for their
last production of Vaudeville’s My
Home. Good family fun and local
live theater, Good Stuff!
Local Ministry: Walk and Talk, you
have seen these guys around town.
Jack and his friends simply asking
what people have on their hearts
they want prayer for. I hope to post
these on the web-site next time.
Question: 1. How can the church
help you? 2. What is your view of
the faith based community in Ver-
nonia? Contact us: www.christian-

Philippians 4:8, 9
8 Finally, brethren, whatever is true,
whatever is honorable, whatever is
right, whatever is pure, whatever is
[e]lovely, whatever is of good re-
pute, if there is any excellence and if
anything worthy of praise, [f]dwell
on these things. 9 The things you
have learned and received and heard
and seen in me (Paul speaking--an
apostle of Jesus Christ), practice
these things, and the God of peace
will be with you.

Thessalonians 4:16-18 (KJV) tells us
“For the Lord himself shall descend
from heaven with a shout, with the voice
of the archangel, and with the trump
of God: and the dead in Christ shall
rise first: Then we which are alive and
remain shall be caught up together with
them in the clouds, to meet the Lord in
the air: and so shall we ever be with the
Lord. Wherefore comfort one another
with these words.”
