Church News and Events
By Mark Brown
Hi everyone,
I am pleased and humbled to be
able to help continue the work and idea
that William Wells started here in this
space--to have a voice into the commu-
nity that will better enable communica-
tion among the church and the people of
Vernonia.
I will do what I can to put in print
those things that the church, collectively
and individually want to bring to the
community; that goes for the commu-
nity to the church as well. Having said
that it will be a partnership I am looking
forward to. In order for me to do this I
will greatly rely on both the church and
community for information to aid me in
this collaboration.
I will also invite anyone to
check out the web site www.christian-
news.com to post and find information
about the churches in Vernonia. My E-
mail you can reach me at is saltn_light@
hotmail.com . You can also reach me at
503.961.5281 if you need to call or text.
With the transition at such an
early stage of this new feature in Verno-
nia’s Voice we will have to be creative,

Free Community Dinner: Vernonia
Pioneer Baptist Fellowship is a rela-
tively new, growing church. It meets at
the Middle School Cafeteria on Sundays
(where you see the No Perfekt Peoples
banner), with Sunday School for chil-
dren and adults at 9:00 AM, and the
main service at 11:00 AM
At the recent Thanksgiving
Community Dinner (with the cooperation
of the Vernonia Community Church),
Pioneer Baptist provided a meal to ap-
proximately 130-140 people. That suc-
cess led to the decision to begin a church
outreach. This year, the members of the
Pioneer Baptist Fellowship plan to pro-
vide at least one hot meal each month, at
no charge, to anyone who would like to
attend. The first meal will be on Satur-
day, February 18, from 6:00 PM to 8:00
PM at the Scout Cabin in Hawkins Park.
The menu is simple: Hearty Chicken
Noodle Soup (a great recipe), bread, and
dessert. In the next few months, there
will be a Chili Feed, a Beef Stew dinner,
and-- when the weather warms up-- even
a barbecue or two!
Bring your appetites and a
smile-- everything else will be provid-
ed!
General Events: Rock-n-Worship Road

the door.

Words to think on: A young couple
moves into a new neighborhood....
The next morning while they are eat-
ing breakfast, the young woman sees
her neighbor hanging the wash outside.
“That laundry is not very clean”, she
said. “She doesn’t know how to wash
correctly. Perhaps she needs better laun-
dry soap.” Her husband looked on, but
remained silent. Every time her neighbor
would hang her wash to dry, the young
woman would make the same comments.
About one month later, the woman was
surprised to see a nice clean wash on
the line and said to her husband “Look,
she has learned how to wash correctly I
wonder who taught her this.” The hus-
band said, “I got up early this morning
and cleaned our windows.” And so it is
with life. What we see when watching
others depends on the purity of the win-
dow through which we look!

have seen these guys around town. Jack

ple have in their hearts that they want
