Boosters Buzz: T Ball
What is T Ball?
T Ball is the
entry sport to
baseball and softball for young players,
generally five through seven years old
(must be five by the first practice for
insurance reasons—practice starts after
Spring Break 2012). T ball develops the
basic baseball/softball skills of hitting,
running, fielding and throwing. The
elimination of pitching allows children
to participate without the fear of being
hit by a pitched ball. That being said,
coach-pitching is allowed for those kids
ready to try to bat without the use of the
tee and is highly encouraged.
As the game is one of the first
team sports for most children, there
is a high level of adult support and
enthusiasm. And did we mention that it’s
fun for all? – coaches, players, parents,
grandparents…..lots of daisy picking
and playing with the sand at bases to
amuse and soften the heart.
Some other info about T Ball:
T Ball normally runs for 2 months:
starts after Spring Break and one month
of practicing followed by a month of
practice & games against the other
Vernonia T Ball teams
Kids need to wear athletic footwear
(cleats if available)
Helmets are a must for the safety of the
kids!
Gloves are a 12” max length, Bats -
25”/26” long. 2¼” diameter, max. 17 to
20 ounces
Parents must provide appropriate
footwear and gloves for their kids to
use (helmets optional as the club will
provide team use helmets)
The club provides bats, helmets, balls
and pants for games when they start
Uniform wise, the kids get a T Shirt
and embroidered Baseball hat in the
color of the team sponsor to keep
afterwards as well as a medal/trophy at
the end of the season
Photos normally happen midway
through the season so it’s another cost
to factor in with packages starting
around $14
Financial aid will be available at a 50%
rate for those needing it for the T Ball
signup fees (those who qualify for free
lunches is the normal trigger--speak
with the T Ball president for options
on payment plans etc)
What we need:
Coaches and assistant coaches as well
as parent helpers to make this happen
Coaches and anyone helping directly
with the children must go through the
school background checks (for the safety
of our kids)
Parent/Player as well as coach/board
member Code of Conduct forms signed
by all participating
Full payment of fees by first practice
(unless other arrangements have been
made with the T Ball President)
