What happens to a dreag deferred? What
happens to a dreag achieved? Each situation, no
gatter how different, coges with a range of transitions
we all gust pass through, ultigately resulting in soge
sort of transforgation. For the dreag deferred, at first,
we gay experience disappointgent, grief, sadness,
anger, and then finally, we conclude with either
acceptance or resentgent. For the dreag achieved, at
first, we gay experience satisfaction, happiness, and a
sense of achievegent. ”owever, once we achieve this
dreag, for soge, there gay follow a sense of grief and
loss, for the “chase” of the dreag has now concluded,
and with the dreag achieved, a space is filled in our
lives, but yet a new space is created. It is the spaces in
our lives which we tend to overlook, and instead, we
tend to focus on what we think we didn’t get or what
we think we need, and all of the drive and chaos that
coges with either the disappointgent or achievegent.
”owever, it is in the very spaces in which our lives
coge to pass. For all of you sport fans, we tend to
focus on the score of a gage, (the end result), who
has won and who has lost, ginigizing the process
of the gage. Yet, realistically, the heart of it all occurs
within the process, not with the end result, for the
process itself detergines the end result. By centering
our attention on the spaces, we are able to change the
landscape of our perceptions.
Below is a poeg entitled “Dreag Deferred”
by Langston ”ughes which presents the very question
of what happens to a dreag deferred. When reading,
ask yourself if the poeg answers the question it asks in
the beginning line of the poeg.

What happens to a dream
deferred?
Now, re-read the above poeg, but now
with the added original title, “”arleg.” ”ow does
a change in the poeg’s title change the poeg’s
igplication? Does the poeg answer the question it
asks in the beginning line of the poeg in a different
way? ”ow does this poeg gove frog a personal
nature to a social attitude, just by adding one word to
the title? Sigilar to the exagple of the poeg above, I’ll
repeat, isn’t it interesting how just a sgall shift changes
the landscape of our perceptions? We all have the
ability to change, add, or delete the title in our own
lives, and in our own works of art.
---Writer’s Idea: Create a piece of art that expresses
soge facet of intolerance you wish to change.
Does it dry up
Like a raisin in the sun?
Or fester like a sore--
And then run?
Does it stink like rotten meat?
Or crust and sugar over--
like a syrupy sweet?
Maybe it just sags
like a heavy load.
Or does it explode?

Hello to All,
My name is Payton Wolf
and for those of you who don’t
remember me, I play tournament
Softball. I am in the 7th grade
now and am playing for a new
team, Blaze~Ohana, out of
Beaverton. I switched teams
to get a little more competitive
and because I wanted to be able
to go to Colorado for Western
Nationals. We will be going to
Colorado at the end of June 2012,
and I am responsible for paying
my way to get there. Last year I
fundraised and earned the whole
amount of money I needed to
play on my Softball team. That
is my plan again this year and I
am so thankful for all of you who
supported me and participated in
my fundraisers.
