First Friday-- September 30th
The final First Friday celebration of the
season will be held on September 30th at the Scout
Cabin in Hawkins Park from 5:00 to 8:00.
The last First Friday of the season will be
the last Friday of September in order to coordinate
with Vernonia’s Salmon Festival. Celebrate a great
summer with neighbors and friends by enjoying
arts, entertainment, and culture. Visit with local
artists and crafters, and enter your name in several
sensational raffles that will be drawn before the end
of the evening. Children can fish for Salmon (treats)
in a fishing game and decorate cookies.
First Friday is a revenue generating entity
for Vernonia Hands-on Art and is dedicated to
celebrating the arts, bringing people together to
meet neighbors, exchange information and share
skills, and reinforcing a sense of community. And,
most importantly, to HAVE A GOOD TIME!
Stop by to kick off the Salmon Festival
weekend and close the season with an evening out
with family, friends and neighbors.

Vernonia Library Receives Grant
The Friends of the Vernonia Library have received
notification that they are the recipients of a grant from the
Columbia County Cultural Coalition. The purpose of this
matching grant will be to expand the local 2012 Com-
munity Reads event by providing an activity related to
each of three selected books. Titles of these books will
be announced in January with the activities to take place
during April’s National Library Week.

being told by C-Com “sorry no one is

I expected more from you
Sheriff Dickerson, that’s why I voted
for you! I feel you are all about excuses
and nothing about solutions. Are you
punishing the residents of this county
for not passing the tax levy so you
could spend the money as you saw
fit? Where is the Sheriff’s Posse and
your Reserve Program? Why don’t
you hold the County Commissioners
responsible for this? The same goes
for our Commissioners. Why are
you not holding Sheriff Dickerson
accountable for his budget that seemed
to be adequate prior to the levy? When
you focus on nothing but the problems,
that is all you will get in return, more
problems!
