FRAZIER H. ROHM
Frazier Harlan Rohm, son of Zeta
Mary Jarvis & Frederick Harlan Rohm,
was born in Chicago on September 23rd,
1931, and died in Portland, Oregon on
July 2nd, 2011 after a long and fulfilling
life, surrounded by his loving family.
Frazier was first and foremost
a father. He was also a scientist, an
a wry, compelling sense of humor. He
was a man of strong opinions, frequently
buttressed by facts – to many, he was the
smartest man they ever met. Frazier’s
love for travel sent him to many corners
of the globe and he particularly enjoyed
visiting the Taj Mahal recently. Frazier
was an avid reader, predominantly
following world politics and economics.
He loved living and working at his home
outside of Vernonia and always looked
forward to friends and family visiting,
especially his grandchildren.
After attending Reed College,
he received his Bachelor of Science
from the University of Washington, and
obtained a PhD in Inorganic Chemistry
from Washington State University. He
worked for many years at Tektronix in
their Analytical Lab.
He is survived by his life mate of
more than 40 years, Katharine Denckla,
and all the children: William Anton Rohm,
Michael Tigger & Susan Marie Rohm,
Lisa Lee Rohm, Mary Margaret Miller,
Karen Lee & Earl Davis, Jennifer Anne
& Martin Holm. He is also represented
by 11 grandchildren, Eric Alan Davis,
Colton ‘Cody’ Edward Davis, Caitlin
Hope Miller, Elijah William Miller,
Nathan Frazier Rohm, Alaina Katharine
Holm, Samuel Fletcher Holm, Zuriah
Judson Rohm, Benjamin Esaias Holm,
Kasmirah Nicole Rohmbock, Sela Ylan
Rohm, and one great-granddaughter
still in the oven, Piper Dawn Davis. He
is also survived by his younger sister
Deborah Balkis Smith and his favorite
niece Deborah Balkis & David Clark
Rohmbock, as well as his most recent
namesake, Owen Frazier Miller.
He was predeceased by his
beloved older sister Dorita J. Kerner
and her husband Leighton Kerner.
A celebration of Frazier’s life
will be held Saturday, July 16th with
a pot-luck, open-house WAKE at his
home of 32 years outside of Vernonia at
60501 Flack Road. All are welcome to
share in the love and memory of Frazier
beginning at 1:00 pm. We will join in a
toast of his life at 3:00 pm. Please use
the below website to be informed of
updated details as well as directions to
