VHS Spring Sports Update
Baseball—Coach
Aaron
Miller’s Loggers, after a stretch where
the team played well and went 8-1, lost
four straight games--three straight to
a tough Knappa squad and one against
Country Christian. The team finally
rebounded with a much needed 14-5
win against Country Christian on May 6,
moving into third place and securing a
place in the League playoffs. They play
Country Christian again on May 10, then
finish out the season with non-league
games against Scio, Western Mennonite
and Warrenton, Only the
top two teams advance
from the League playoffs
into the state tournament.
All season TJ
White has hitting the ball
extremely well (“He’s
crushing the ball,” said
Coach Miller) and was
leading the team in
batting average at .516,
with 4 home runs and 11
RBI’s. Josh Butcher leads
the team with 16 RBI’s;
Jackson Miller leads
the team in hits with 18
and has a .409 batting average. Coach
Miller also mentioned freshman Jared
Whitton for making a
big contribution off the
bench as a pinch hitter
and player—Whitton is
hitting .463 with 4 RBI’s
in 13 plate appearances.
Miller also mentioned
freshman
Ronnie
Maldonado’s
clutch
hitting—Maldonado is 4

keeping people off balance in the last
few games,” said Miller. “Even though
they both lost their last games, they
