She excelled in the arts and wanted to

brother, but since women were not
allowed in the architectural profession

Recession, she studied science and
medicine as these skills were seriously
needed at the time. In 1940 she became
a registered nurse. During WW II she
worked as a nurse in Waterbury, CT and
later, she worked at Memorial Hospital,
New York City, NY as a nurse and as the
Director of Nursing Education.

In 1944 she married Dr. William
Spense MacComb of New York, NY.
They lived in New York, NY and Wilton,
Connecticut until 1952. In 1952 they
moved to Houston, Texas. After Dr.
MacComb retired in 1974 they moved
to Greenville, SC for a few years, then
moved to Walnut Creek, California,
to be near family. Her husband died in
1988. In 1995 she moved to Vernonia
to be cared for by her daughter in-law
Gretchen S. MacComb and her son Alan
MacComb. She was preceded in death
by her parents, brother (Hank Judd) and
her husband (Dr. William S. MacComb
-1900-1988).

Survivors include one sister,
Clair Rice, in Florida and three sons,
