Theater Presents
“Robin Hood”

The Vernonia Community Theater will present
a youth production of “Robin Hood” on July 30 and
31 at the Washington Grade School. Performances
will be Friday, July 30, at 7:00 PM and Saturday, July
31 at 2 PM. Over twenty Vernonia youth from 10 to
18 have roles in the play which was adapted for this
group by Carol Pelster. Kinnell Steward and Mark
Brown organized the Vernonia Community Theater
under the auspices of Vernonia Hands-on Art with
support from the Vernonia Prevention Coalition.

Participants have been hard at work
memorizing their lines, and formal play practices began
the week of July 12. Adult volunteers are already at
work making costumes and props, helping with the
musical numbers and painting backdrops. Tickets will
be on sale July 12 from participants and will also be
available at the door. Ticket prices are $5 for adults,
$3 for youth 6-18, under 6 free.

This is the theater’s first production, but the
organizers are hoping to offer additional plays by
both adults and children in the future. Mark your
calendars now for an enjoyable time with Robin Hood
and his Merry Men!

The 40 th reunion for the Vernonia High

Unlike other class reunions, though, this one

“We are encouraging all those who
graduated a few years before 1970 as well as those
who graduated a few years afterward to join us,” said
John Knowlton, a 1970 VHS grad who is organizing
the reunion.

The reunion will be held from 1:00-6;00
PM, Saturday, Aug. 7. Drop-ins at the Scout Cabin
are encouraged anytime during that 5-hour time
frame. The introduction of classmates
and a schedule of events will be held at 3
