Columbia Chorale o f Oregon will be presenting Mass N o 9 in C ma
jor, Missa in tempore belli (Mass in a Time o f War) by Franz Joseph
Haydn.
In this time in history when our country is engaged in multiple battles
with our neighbors around the world, we are in greater need o f some
semblance o f hope and peace than in the recent past. This particular
work o f Haydn is imbued with heart. His fierce conviction that peace is
obtainable and that there is a need for hope illustrates the possibility that
there is an end in sight. Let us find peace in a future that is secure in a
more temperate global opinion.
Come join us as we raise our voices in song in the belief that we will
instill in you the same sense o f hope for a peaceful future. We, as human
beings, need to believe there is peace in sight as part of our collective
nature. The Columbia Chorale is enjoying the experience o f this work
and WE look forward to sharing that joy with each of you.
