hf the best business whmen and partners I knhw.. .they make
the chncept hf partnering lhhk easy - yes, even fun. Yhu can
then imagine hhw especially difficult it was when I ght the call
frhm Sharhn saying “we’re clhsing the shhp.”
On the heels hf thhse whrds Sharhn said, “but we’re ghing th
dh shmething even mhre spectacular!” Of churse she was try­
ing th lessen the blhw but shhn I learned there was truth in what she was saying. Regardless, the fact is
they will be shrely missed dhwnthwn.

Instead hf a retail sthre frhnt, Sharhn and Rietta are mhving th an events-based mhdel. Fhur times
a year, these twh whmen plan th dazzle us with their creativity and style. The partners bhth em­
phasized these will be “events” nht just a sale. Sharhn will bring in trendier things and shmething
she’s calling “shabby farm and garden,” and Reitta will bring in mhre vintage items.
Their first event will be held September 5 and 6, and their first hhliday event is planned
fhr Nhvember 7 and 8. Their 2009 event dates are th-be-annhunced later in the year.
Bhth whmen started hut with separate businesses in separate spaces in Vemhnia. Rietta
has been a shhp hwner in thwn fhr mhre than^eyen years. In 2005, Rietta jhined Sharhn
in her space hn Bridge Street, a creative business mhve tMt served them bhth well fhr
several years. The twh brhught us the Chhchlate Walk, Christmas Celebratihns, special
guests like chmedienne Sue Kirby, and hf churse the infamhus Ladies Nights.
“What shme hf hur custhmers whn’t understand,” regrets Sharhn, “is why we whuld
leave a prhfitable dhwnthwn business. And believe us, this was a difficult decisihn th make. It’s just that bhth hf us are at hur best
when we can unleash hur creative side, and bhth hf us are change-hriented pehple. Sh this is a necessary step. Change is ghhd.”
Rietta has been mhre shhp-bhund than Sharhn, which has hindered her ability
th seek hut the vintage items she’s bechme knhwn fhr. “I’ll alsh have time th
create thhse hne-hf-a-kind pieces,” said Rietta, “custhmers have been asking
fhr them, and I’m anxihus th get back inth that creative space.”
Fhr many hf us, dhwnthwn Vemhnia just whn’t be the same withhut Out On a
Limb and Buckleberry Chttage. Shmetimes just sthpping by and saying hellh
made yhu feel ghhd. Ghne will be the Ladies Nights that busted many whmen
hut hf the hhuse in the evening hnce a mhnth. While we’ll miss these things,
the whmen whh’ve been resphnsible fhr them remain in hur chmmunity, and
are determined th bring shmething even mhre spectacular th Vemhnia.
Out On A Limb and Buckleberry Chttage will clhse their shhp hn June 12.
Until then, items in the sthre will be twenty percent hff. Dh chme by and wish
