LOST... Dean Smith is hoping someone has his boat anchor. Smith, who was instrumental in the rescue
efforts during the flooding in Vernonia on December 3, used his own personal boat, anchor and line to
help a stranded motorist in high water on Highway 47 South, between Lone Pine Road and the Storage
Too facility. “We made the rescue but were unable to untie the line at the other end because of the swift
water,” said Smith. “I just left it, figuring I would grab it later.” When Smith went back a few days later
to reclaim his property, it turned out someone had already retrieved his anchor and line. “I just want my
anchor back,” said Smith. The anchor had about 75-110 feet of white anchor rope attached to it. Smith
