Labor Roundtable of SW Washington donates to Korean ‘Wall of Remembrance’
Officers of the Labor Roundtable of Southwest Wash-
ington on Oct. 11 presented a check for $5,045 to the
Clark County, Washington, chapter of the National
Korean War Veterans Association Inc., the Richard L.
Quatier Chapter 321. The money will go toward
building a “Wall of Remembrance” at the Korean War
Veterans Memorial located on the National Mall in
Washington, D.C. President Barack Obama signed
legislation in October 2016 authorizing construction
of a wall to remember the 36,574 men and women
who lost their lives in the war. However, Congress
didn’t attach any money to the bill, so the estimated
$15 million price tag has to be paid for through pri-
vate donations. The Clark County veterans group has
been on a mission to help raise that money. With the
Roundtable’s donations, the group has raised nearly
$70,000. Nationally, nearly $6 million has been col-
lected. Presenting the check at left are Labor Round-
table President Ed Barnes (center), Vice President
Dave Letinich (right), and Secretary Treasurer Roy
Jennings (second from right). Barnes is a retiree of
IBEW Local 48, Letinich is a retiree of the Laborers
Union, and Jennings is a retiree of Amalgamated
Transit Union Local 757. Barnes also serves as com-
mander of Chapter 321. The Labor Roundtable raised
the money at its 36th annual awards banquet held
Sept. 27 at the Vancouver Hilton Hotel and Conven-
tion Center. The Labor Roundtable of Southwest
Washington is an independent organization that
meets every other Friday to discuss politics and other
topics of importance to residents of Southwest
Washington.
