Washington Building Trades convenes in Vancouver
VANCOUVER, Wash.—The 63rd annual conven-
tion of the Washington State Building Trades Council
(WSBCTC) was held June 19-20 at the Vancouver
Hilton with 126 delegates and 85 guests in atten-
dance. Sixty locals and councils representing thou-
sands of workers are affiliated with WSBCTC. Sev-
eral are base in Oregon, as they have jurisdiction in
Southwest Washington. Delegates heard from Sean
McGarvey, president of North America’s Building
Trades Unions, along with many other speakers.
They also acted on 10 resolutions, including one to
hold future conventions in odd numbered years rather
than annually, and lengthening the terms of its officers
from three to four years, starting in 2021.
