Labor-management conference to explore future of work
The Oregon chapter of the La-
bor and Employment Relations
Association (LERA) will hold
its annual conference Thurs-
day, Nov. 15, at the World
Trade Center, 121 SW Salmon
St., Portland, followed by the
Maggie Awards ceremony and
reception. The awards program
recognizes individuals from la-
bor, management, academics
and neutrals who have made ma-
jor contributions to labor-man-
agement relations.
This year’s conference,
“Shaping the Future of Work,”
will feature a keynote presenta-
tion by Tom Kochan, professor
at the Massachusetts Institute
of Technology’s Sloan School
of Management, and co-direc-
tor of the Institute for Work and
Employment
Research.
Kochan has long advocated the
need to update the nation’s em-
ployment policies, practices
and institutions to mutually
benefit workers, families, com-
panies and broad-based pros-
perity in a changing work-
place.
