HAPPENINGS
Labor movement will march
in Pride Parade
The Oregon labor movement
will march together behind one
banner in the 2018 Portland
Pride Parade on Sunday, June
17. The goal of the Oregon
AFL-CIO is a unified contin-
gent 200 strong of union and al-
lied members celebrating pride
in their LGBTQ friends and col-
leagues.
“We encourage all our affili-
ates and partners to use this
event as an opportunity to reach
out to their LGBTQ members to
demonstrate support and soli-
darity, as well as to their greater
membership,” the state labor
federation said on a Facebook
event page. “Now more than
ever we must stand together in
unity, speaking out and acting
up to uphold the rights and dig-
nity of all workers. As we well
know, ‘An injury to one is an in-
jury to all.’ ”
Marchers will gather in the
North Park Blocks at 10 a.m.
Parade order will not be an-
nounced until the first week of
June.
The parade is from 10 a.m. to
2 p.m.
