Labor’s Community Service Agency
Spring Fundraiser 2018
A statement in support of LCSA’s spring fundraiser by Connie Ashbrook;
founder and Executive Director Emeritus, Oregon Tradeswomen & Member,
Elevator Constructors Local 23
“I am proud to be a union member for over 40 years, and also proud to
be on the Board of Labor's Community Service Agency, an organization
that demonstrates so clearly how Labor benefits the community. I would like
to thank each and every individual and Labor Union who has donated to
Labor's Community Service Agency and remind you just how your donations
have impacted our neighbors, friends and families.
“In 2017 alone;
• LCSA served 353 families/individuals and 754 children through LCSA's
housing and family stability programs. This includes an intensified focus to
the housing crisis that is destabilizing our region's workforce.
• They served over 450 children with their Presents From Partners holiday
giving event for Labor families in a time of need, unifying over 40 Unions in
solidarity with their brothers and sisters.
• LCSA’s Labor liaison provided much needed guidance to over 800
workers affected by layoff or closures. Dislocated worker services aided with
unemployment insurance filing, healthcare resources, job links, programs
and services, resume writing, training opportunities, and much more
“As you can see Labor's Community Service Agency makes a huge
difference in people's lives and shows in so many ways how the Labor
Movement makes a difference to the community.
“So again, thank you for making all this possible and if you or your Local
hasn't made a donation yet, please consider doing so.”
THIS NEWSPAPER BROUGHT TO YOU BY THE LABOR MOVEMENT. BUY UNION. AND AMERICAN-MADE.
“I’m working to build safe, livable communities where
local families have good-paying jobs and great schools,
and local businesses thrive.”
