As labor braces for the aftermath
of the Supreme Court ruling in
Janus v. AFSCME, it must shift
from fair share to a voluntary
dues culture in some unions, and
rebuild relationships in commu-
nities. To help in that transition,
the Labor Education and Re-
search Center is offering a Metro
Leadership School & Training.
Courses will include “Strategic
Leadership” and “It Takes a
Community: Building Labor-
Community Alliances During
Challenging Times.” Cost is $80.
The deadline to register is May
1.

Rally against Uber
The Oregon AFL-CIO and
Transportation Fairness Port-
land are joining forces April 30
to tell Portland City Council to
give Uber and Lyft drivers and
impacted community members
a voice. The organizations are
proposing establishing a Wage
Board housed at the City of
Portland. Wage boards give
drivers the ability to sit at the
table and have a say in how the
rules are made—instead of one
side making them.
■ Time: Monday, April 30, noon.

sues, counseling needs and
more.
